Official Workshop description

Shadow Company Civil Population Towns that look lived in, without a Game Master placing every civilian by hand. Civilians, parked cars and light traffic appear around players as they approach. People go about their day and react to the war around them. Everything runs on the server and is capped so it never outspends the mission's own AI. FEATURES • Automatic towns: every town and village on the map becomes a civilian zone at mission start, with no setup. Military sites, airfields and respawn points are kept clear. • Stays out of sight: civilians and cars only appear where no player can see the spot, and only disappear out of view. Towns fill before you get there, even while you watch from a distance. • People with somewhere to be: everyone has a home. Depending on the hour they walk the sidewalks to the shop, the tavern, work or church, stay a while and walk back. They wait for traffic before crossing the road. Made for teams watching a town for hours. • A daily rhythm: shops, taverns and workplaces busy by day, with regulars sitting on chairs. Taverns fill in the evening and people are home at night. Fewer people outside in the rain. • On the street: people sitting on benches and waiting at bus stops, standing at the walls of their houses, a few smoking. • A varied crowd: residents, workers in industrial areas, dock workers on the coast, some businessmen in the bigger towns. • Places of work outside towns: farm hands at farms, dock workers on piers, fishermen at the water's edge. • Parked cars along the kerb. They are real vehicles: usable and damageable. • Moving traffic: civilian cars drive the roads near players. • Real reactions: gunfire, explosions and deaths empty the streets. People run indoors or drop where they stand and stay down. The town recovers slowly over the following minutes. • Faction-safe: civilians are made friendly to every faction in the mission, including modded ones, so AI don't shoot them on sight. • Collateral record: every civilian death is logged with killer, faction, weapon and town, plus a summary at mission end, for AARs. • Game Master control: right-click to see a town's status, force-populate, clear, lock, freeze, change density, suppress, add an exclusion area (for FOBs), pin a civilian, or pause or disable everything. • Fully configurable: every cap, radius, curve and timer is in a server config file. No rebuild needed. TERRAINS Nothing is built for one map. Towns, sidewalks and parking are worked out from the map itself when the mission starts. Built and tested on Everon and Arland. Other maps should work if they use the vanilla buildings and have roads and an AI navmesh. REQUIREMENTS • None beyond the base game. Shadow Company Modern Civilians is optional: if it's loaded, civilians wear its outfits automatically. SERVER CONFIG On first start the server writes ShadowCompany/SCCP_CivilPopulation.json in its profile folder. Defaults: 60 civilians, up to 16 of them walking, 16 parked cars, moving traffic on, 4 active towns plus 6 places of work. Config files from 1.0 are upgraded automatically, keeping your changes. Built by and for Shadow Company. discord.gg/SCARMA
