Official Workshop description

3SFG-GRIMSTONE Rappelling Add controlled rope descents to your training and missions. Set an anchor near a suitable edge, step off, then descend, ascend or brake. FEATURES - Controlled descent and ascent. - Braking when movement is released. - Visible braided rope, with anchor and carabiner hardware on suitable edges. - Extended rope tail hanging straight below the lower hand. - Automatic release on landing and manual release while hanging. - Up to 40 metres of rappel reach. Weapons are stowed while rappelling. CONTROLS Default arm/release binding: Left Ctrl + J. Rebind it under Settings > Controls > Grimstone Rappel. Step off within 3 metres of the armed point. S / backward: descend. W / forward: ascend. Release movement: brake. Toggle the rappel action again: release or cut the line. Releasing in midair restores normal falling and fall damage. Controller users must assign the action manually; controller bindings have not been validated. CURRENT SCOPE AND KNOWN ISSUES This is an experimental release. Buildings, containers and fixed structures are the main supported use. Anchor/carabiner mounts may be missing on some buildings even when rappelling works. Rocks and cliffs remain experimental. Some descents work, while irregular surfaces can stop movement or cause rope sections to disappear. Rock mounts may not appear. A moving band or ripple on the rope remains a known cosmetic issue. Anchor and carabiner materials will receive further refinement. Dedicated-server, remote-observer, join-in-progress and console behavior need further testing for this update. Automatic rooftop mantling, swinging, wall jumping, thrown hooks, helicopter attachment and firing while hanging are not included. REQUIREMENTS Base Arma Reforger game only. No additional Workshop mod dependencies. CREDITS Created for 3SFG GRIMSTONE MILSIM. Referenced Bohemia game resources and APIs retain their original attribution and licenses. Improved rope visibility on buildings and containers.
Improved anchor alignment on suitable edges, including tilted surfaces.
Added the rope loop and knot through the carabiner.
Extended the rope tail and straightened its drop below the lower hand.
Improved landing detection so body contact with a rock does not immediately release the rappel.
Added partial experimental rock descent and rope routing support.
Known issues: mounts may be missing on some buildings and rocks; rope sections can intermittently disappear around irregular rock surfaces.
Rope shading and hardware material improvements remain planned.
